The Zodiac

What sign are you?

And who shares it with you?

Overall

Should you be going ape this year? Those pesky stars have mostly gone, though their tails linger. However, you do have the star of loss hanging over your head, so perhaps concentrate on all the things worth losing: a police record, your ex’s phone number or that shirt which everyone sniggered at when you wore it last year. Mid to late in the year you can make your moves. Get that monkey off your back; stay cool or you’ll find yourself in the monkey house.

Health

February and May are contraindicated for vehicular and aquatic accidents - might be an idea not to test the presently unsubstantiated rumour that Victoria Harbour is now so narrow that you can drive across it. The best way to avoid traffic accidents is to avoid traffic, get a night job or a helicopter.

Wealth

On your macaques, get set . . . if you’re bipedal, then on your bike. There is some scope for a raise and a little more of the love flowing down to you, but it’s still a year of no monkey business. It’s not a matter of getting paid peanuts, it’s a matter of getting the right peanuts for the right job.

Love

I’m afraid the start of the year sees you still down on the forest floor, trying to waylay the odd hominoid that passes by. No harm in trying your luck, so make your way up through the branches to the tree-tops. If there’s no joy up there then console yourself by waving at all the others in the same boat.

Career

Gibbon that there’s little room for advancing this year, put that out of your mind. It’s not that your co-workers are throwing monkey wrenches into your office cubicle; more that work just isn’t going to be a barrel of laughs this year. Whatever the case, you’ll not be a monkey’s uncle, those bananas hold no surprises for you.

Famous Monkeys

Hong Kong actor and singer Nicholas Tse; Chinese businesswoman Wendi Deng Murdoch; Hong Kong politician Leung Kwok-hung (Longhair); Hong Kong film maker Wong Ka-wai; Hollywood actor Tom Hanks

Guiding hexagram from the Yi-Jing (Book of Changes)

Judgement
The receptive brings about sublime success. If the superior man undertakes something and tries to lead, he goes astray; but if he follows he finds guidance.

Image
The earth’s condition is receptive devotion. Thus the superior man who has breadth of character carries the outer world.

Line
Six at the top means dragons fight in the meadows. Their blood is black and yellow.

Verdict
Dragons fighting in the meadows? Might be a good year to do a little more receptive devotion in the city streets. Leading you’ll go astray but following you’ll find guidance - this might be lifted from the Transport Department’s Road Crossing Code: the Citizen’s Guide to Zebra Crossings. If you look long enough into the soul of those flickering red and green men you may yet find inner peace.
