Bangkok, Thailand – 8 March 2023: The 19th CITIC CLSA Asean Forum opens today at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok with 600+ delegates from 22 countries attending. After two years of virtual conferences, CITIC CLSA is delighted to once again set foot in Thailand to bring together 300+ institutional investors and 330 senior executives from 120 of the region’s foremost growth companies. Over the next three days, a distinguished lineup of expert speakers, industry thought leaders and award-winning CITIC CLSA analysts will deliver real insights into the region’s vast opportunities for delegates.

In response to increasing interest from global investors looking to tap into the enormous potential in emerging markets, our Forum will cover key topics ranging from technology, healthcare and ESG to geopolitics, global finance and economics. In addition to offering insights, keynotes and expert speakers will also challenge and enlighten delegates via one-on-one and group meetings throughout the week.

CLSA Chief Equity Strategist Alex Redman will open the Forum with an address on global equity strategy, explaining why it’s now or never for emerging market equities, with the stars aligned for the region in 2023. He will be followed by Founding Partner at Mobius Capital Partners Mark Mobius who will discuss what’s in store for emerging market investors in 2023. Drawing on his decades of experience in Asia investing, Mobius will address key top-of-mind issues for global investors.

Edward Park, Chief Executive Officer of Institutional Equities at CLSA, said: “The future is now. With record inflows into emerging markets this year, Asean is well positioned to provide a wealth of investment opportunities for investors, especially at a time when global markets face inflationary and recessionary pressures. Our Forum provides a platform for investors to connect with fast-growing corporates and powerful industry experts to better understand the opportunities Asean markets hold for investors today.”

In addition to more than 14 CITIC CLSA analysts presenting, delegates will hear from 52 global thought leaders as they unpack the key economic drivers shaping this vital group of exciting markets. Expert speakers include: Monsinee Nakapanant, Co-President of Ascend Money, Nicholas Nash, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Asia Partners, Septian Hario Seto, Deputy Coordinating Minister of Investment and Mining to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments for the Republic of Indonesia, Wilfred Yiu, co-COO and Head of Equities at HKEx, Bill Stoops, Chairman of the Investment Committee at Dragon Capital, Charles Ormiston, Bain Advisor of Bain, in addition to Dr Entela Benz, CEO and Founder of Intensel, a global award-winning AI-powered climate tech solutions provider.

Shaun Cochran, Head of Research at CLSA, added: “Great investment insights come from the unique mosaic theory insights that are only achievable through boots on ground. We are therefore excited to reconnect the Asean corporate and investment communities to validate the existing thesis that the demographics and growth opportunity is singular and strong, and explore growing opportunities such at the new ways Chinese capital may be able to link with international companies via StockConnect. We look forward to seeing participants in Bangkok.”
