Community Outreach
The CITIC CLSA Community Outreach Programme was officially launched on 30 June 2007. Our vision is to be a responsible corporate that delivers impactful and positive change to the local communities in which we live and work. CITIC CLSA Community Outreach drives and inspires change by supporting community projects that address the various social and environmental challenges faced by our community.
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT

Supporting the underprivileged people and those who are vulnerable by delivering access to basic social services and providing emotional support to promote resilience and well-being.

Promoting awareness and understanding of the environmental impact of climate change and calling for education programmes that encourage the action and accountability needed to protect our environment.

Fostering a diverse and inclusive community by advocating for equal opportunities and empowering individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds.

Promoting literacy and helping young people from different countries improve their access to education.

FEATURED STORIES

Chen Fang – The Community Outreach Programme emcompasses a diverse array of activities designed to engage with various sectors of the Hong Kong community. Through this initiative, we have the opportunity to assist those in need and also gain deeper insights into the lives of individuals from different places in the community. For staff like me, who come from mainland China, this programme serves as a valuable opportunity to connect with local people and better understand their unique experiences and needs. It also fosters an environment where we can build friendships with colleagues from various departments outside of work, some of whom have become close friends. Many of us may feel unsure about how to extend a helping hand to those in need, but the Community Outreach Programme provides a channel for us to engage in various volunteering activities, making a difference in our community.

Franco Cheng – Since 2023, my family and I have had the pleasure of participating in various community outreach events. These activities have ranged from mural painting and making snowy mooncakes to wrapping and distributing Chinese dumplings for the elderly, recycling soap, visiting subdivided homes, selling flags to raise funds for local charities, and celebrating birthdays with underprivileged children, among others. Being part of a company that organizes such impactful community outreach activities has allowed me to give back to the place where I grew up. It’s a fulfilling journey that not only benefits our community but also instills important values in my children. It’s particularly heartwarming when my older daughter proudly shared her community outreach experiences during Show and Tell sessions at school. I am grateful to the company for offering these opportunities to make a positive difference and for enabling me to teach and share these valuable experiences with my daughters firsthand. It’s truly rewarding to contribute to our community and pass these important values on to the next generation.

Anita Shan – It’s about giving and taking. On the surface, it seems like we are helping others, but we all enjoy the process as well. You could call it a refreshing escape from our daily routines, and it brings us happiness too. We often hear in the news or learn from various sources that our society comprises different classes, with many underprivileged groups in need of assistance. However, without direct interactions with these individuals, our ability to genuinely help them is limited, and we are simply looking at statistics without grasping the real situations or understanding the extent of their needs. Through the Community Outreach activities, we are able to engage with these individuals and gain a deeper understanding of their needs. It’s a truly unique experience.

Aatash Desai – Among all the Community Outreach events, I am particularly interested in activities related to food, such as cooking hot meals for people experiencing homelessness and participating in bread runs, as well as events focused on animal welfare. Sometimes we take things for granted, and participating in Community Outreach activities has been educational for both myself and my family. For my daughter, these events are particularly eye-opening. As a teenager raised in Hong Kong, they allow her to witness different aspects of life in our society. My family and I are truly grateful to have been given such great opportunities to contribute to as well as learning from our local community.

Phyllis Chung – I have been participating in the Community Outreach events with my sons since 2021. We enjoyed all of them, especially the RUN Charity Trail Race, rice dumplings for the community during the Dragon Boat Festival, and mural painting in Hang Hau Village. My kids even shared their Community Outreach experiences in their school assignments, telling their teachers how much they enjoyed the events.

Kelvin Lee – I’m grateful that the company organises so many Community Outreach events for us to participate in. All we need to do is invest our time and energy in these activities. I had the opportunity to participate in the Inclusive Dragon Boat Project, where I connected with and befriended a group of students with special educational needs (SEN). In addition, the Community Outreach programmes offer us a chance to meet with colleagues from different departments.
