Jakarta, Indonesia – 19 April 2024: CITIC CLSA is delighted to host its Asean Forum from 11-13 June at the Four Seasons Hotel. Asean is filled with potential, and the city of Jakarta will offer institutional investors, senior executives and renowned firms an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in the region’s dynamic energy.

Indonesia is well-known for its rapid growth, and as the nation presses on with its election year, markets widely expect continued commitment to policies that enhance its pivotal role in the global supply chain. At the same time, the Philippines is exploring transformative measures, notably through the privatisation of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, a strategic move which should spark a chain reaction of similar initiatives, elevating the nation’s tourism appeal and fostering greater economic expansion. With its increasing penetration of the electronics supply chain, Vietnam remains a preferred destination for foreign manufacturers; additionally, it is gradually resolving obstacles to domestic growth, such as concerns over export slowdown, real estate and liquidity issues.

In Thailand, strong FDI inflows are in the spotlight, with investment from Chinese companies and a new land bridge megaproject potentially spurring new free economic zones in the south. Running parallel to this is Singapore’s increased collaboration with Malaysia, which heralds a new era of manufacturing prowess and underscores the potential for enhanced industrial cooperation. On that note, the latter’s new, proactive monarchy has revitalised key sectors, including utilities, infrastructure and property – a move that has once again positioned Malaysia as a compelling market.

Edward Park, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at CITIC CLSA, said: “Asean stands out as a beacon of growth and innovation, drawing the attention of those who are eager to explore the rich potential of emerging markets. Our Forum provides the perfect platform for both corporates and investors to engage with the region’s evolving landscape, uncovering insights into its strategic transformation and burgeoning commercial opportunities.”

Sarina Lesmina, Head of Indonesia Research at CLSA, added: “We are excited to host this year’s CITIC CLSA Asean Forum in Jakarta. Delegates will have access to an exemplary lineup of distinguished speakers, including experts on technology, environmental and social issues as well as political specialists and economic leaders. They will share their unique and thought-provoking ideas on the most significant trends shaping this dynamic region.”

Matthew Overy, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Head of Research at CLSA, said: “Asean is an exhilarating economic landscape teeming with investment opportunities. Sitting at the crossroads of major global trade routes, its young, dynamic workforce and rapidly advancing digital infrastructure underpin its status as a hub of innovation. Our longstanding local presence in each of its major markets makes our Forum a must-attend event for those interested in the region, providing the perfect environment for exploring major themes and making new connections. We look forward to welcoming you in Jakarta.”
