Hong Kong – Monday, 11 December 2017: CLSA Limited (CLSA), Asia’s leading capital markets and investment group, has been voted No.1 Overall for Combined Research and Sales in each key market surveyed, Asia (ex-Australia, China A&B, Japan), Australia and Japan, in the 28th Asiamoney Brokers Poll, an annual survey of 6,700 investors from more than 3,140 financial institutions.

This marks the first time CLSA has been voted No.1 in all three markets in the same year. In addition, CLSA has placed No.1 in more than 230 categories across all markets and sectors, a testament to the depth and breadth of CLSA’s research, high quality sales services and market-leading trading and execution capabilities.

True to its culture of independent thinking and intellectual curiosity, CLSA continued to be ranked the Most Independent Research in Asia (ex-Australia & Japan) for the 12th consecutive year. Renowned amongst global fund managers for its differentiated and un-conflicted research, CLSA was voted in the top-three Best Regional Research Team in Asia (ex-Japan) in 20 different categories/sectors as well as top-three Best Overall Country Research in 12 markets. For individual research awards, CLSA almost doubled its number of wins from 2016 and scooped 25 top-three Best Regional Research Individual in Asia (ex-Japan) awards, including 10 No.1 rankings.

CLSA’s client-centric model and market-leading trading and execution capabilities have seen it win the titles of Best Overall Regional Sales for Asia (ex-Australia and Japan) and Best Regional Execution for the second consecutive year. Global fund managers voted more than 20 CLSA Sales and 15 CLSA Sales Traders in the top-three across Asia overall and within individual markets.

As CLSA expands into new markets and diversifies its platform, the company is committed to ensuring all clients benefit from its award-winning research through innovative products and services in asset management, corporate finance & capital markets, securities and wealth management.  In an interview with Asiamoney ahead of the announcement of the Brokers Poll’ results, CLSA CEO, Jonathan Slone, told the publication:

“We have built to amortize the research capabilities over more business lines. Five years ago, we were really a single-business company, a monoculture of cash equity brokerage with a small investment bank attached to that. Now we have a fully integrated business that allows us to amortize those research relationships by selling more products.”

In less than a decade since establishing a presence in Australia, CLSA has this year been voted into the top spot for the first time, receiving Best Overall Combined Research and Sales in Australia. Japan has also moved up the rankings to take the top spot for Best Overall Combined Research and Sales in Japan.
