Hong Kong – Thursday, 10 August 2017: CLSA Limited (CLSA), Asia’s leading capital markets and investment group, is honored to host Michael Phelps, one of the world’s greatest athletes, at the 24th CLSA Investors’ Forum in Hong Kong from 11-15 September 2017.
Over the course of his illustrious swimming career, Phelps captured a total of 28 medals including a record-setting 23 gold medals. He competed in five summer Olympic Games beginning with the 2000 Sydney Games where, as the youngest-ever male athlete to be selected to a US Olympic Team, he reached the finals of the 200m butterfly and concluded with the 2016 Rio Games where he reached his fifth consecutive 200m butterfly finals, becoming the only swimmer to ever appear in five finals of the same event.
At the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Phelps won eight gold medals while breaking seven world records, and for which he received a performance bonus. He used the money to establish the Michael Phelps Foundation with the aim to grow the sport of swimming and address the issue of water-safety. The Foundation’s signature program, im, is run through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Special Olympics International.
Phelps has published two autobiographies, No Limits: The Will to Succeed and Beneath the Surface, both New York Times and USA Today best sellers, and a children’s book, How to Train with a T. Rex and Win 8 Gold Medals. The most decorated swimmer in World Championships history, Phelps launched his own competitive swimwear brand, MP, in partnership with Aqua Sphere in 2014.
Over conversation at the 24th CLSA Investors’ Forum, Phelps will share the trials and tribulations of his career while providing insights into how he has sustained the resilience that has made him one of the most successful athletes on the planet.
