We are excited to announce that CITIC CLSA Trust (“the Trust”) has recently donated HKD 659,000 and HKD 110,000 to Po Leung Kuk (“PLK”) and Bring Me A BookTM Hong Kong (“BMABHK”), respectively. Following the donations, the Trust will partner with these organisations to introduce a range of customized initiatives with the goal of enhancing the educational standards and overall well-being of children and young people in local communities throughout Hong Kong.
CITIC CLSA Trust x PLK Advanced Youth Mental Health Programme
Building on the success of last year’s Youth Mental Health Programme, the Advanced Programme aims to create a sustainable impact on the mental wellbeing of young people through a diverse range of activities including the Human Library projects and “Mental Health Youth Ambassadors” programmes. With a broader target audience in mind, the programme seeks to raise awareness about mental health and provide practical methods for prevention and intervention. Additionally, the programme will feature a multi-media content creation workshop, a short film competition and school tour screenings, further enhancing its educational impact and expanding the reach of its promotion. Spanning from February 2025 to January 2026, the programme is expected to benefit nearly 102,000 individuals.
Established in 1878, Po Leung Kuk is one of the largest and leading charitable organisations in Hong Kong. It provides multifaceted social services to children and youth among other beneficiaries through over 320 service units.
CITIC CLSA Trust x BMABHK Inclusive Reading Programme
The Trust’s donation to BMABHK will fund the launch of the Inclusive Reading Programme, designed specifically to cater for the needs of families and children with special educational needs (SEN). This one-year programme consists of three essential parts: BMABHK signature Read Aloud training to empower parents and caregivers with knowledge on child development and read aloud strategies using an evidenced-based approach, an inaugural public lecture by a Developmental-Behavioural Pediatric specialist to educate the public on the connection between reading and children’s brain development, and the installation of a bookbag library with 220 curated books at a beneficiary organisation that serves SEN children. The aim of this programme is to promote the importance of read aloud for all children, cultivate a strong reading culture at home to foster family bonding, and to promote equity and inclusion in our community.
Established in 2006, Bring Me A Book Hong Kong is a local charity promoting the importance of read aloud for children’s development and family bonding. It donates quality children’s picture books and provides education workshops for parents, caregivers and children in underserved communities. To date, BMABHK has installed over 520 libraries across Hong Kong.
