On 10 June, CITIC CLSA volunteers participated in a dragon boat rice dumpling culinary workshop and raised funds to provide 100 nutritious hot meals to the Chung Sing Benevolent Society.
In the workshop the volunteers were taught traditional techniques in wrapping rice dumplings from scratch using fresh ingredients. In total, 100 rice dumplings were produced and packed in hot meal boxes which were delivered to senior citizens at a local elderly centre in Kwun Tong. Though many lacked prior experience, the volunteers quickly mastered the technique and began producing well-formed, professional-looking rice dumplings. The food provided a special treat for the elderly community members as they celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
The smiles and appreciation from the seniors as they received the warm, freshly made food from the hands of the volunteers made the effort well worth it and served as a reminder of the impact we can all make in our community through teamwork and a spirit of generosity.
