Monday keynote speakers focus on economics, finance and strategy. CLSA’s Christopher Wood, Global Equity Strategist and Eric Fishwick, Head of Economic Research, open the 25th CLSA Investors’ Forum with a look at global markets and economic drivers.

Over lunch, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Distinguished Professor of Risk Engineering at The New York University Tandon School of Engineering, discusses the concept of having “skin in the game” and will redefine what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others.

Closing the first day of the Forum, Tyler Cowen, Holbert C. Harris Professor of Economics at George Mason University, will warn against the fallacy of “The American Dream”, talk about the concept of “The Complacent Class” and predict future trends in the US.

Other sessions will cover future market trends globally and ground-breaking technological advances, and include:

  • Branko Milanovic, Professor at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York explores the recent trends in global income distribution and their political implications
  • Mauro F. Guillen, Director of The Joseph H. Lauder Institute at The Wharton School of the Unviersity of Pennsylvania investigates the future of global consumer and financial markets by analyzing the geo-demographic trends of 2030
  • Benjamin McCarron, Managing Director, Asia Research & Engagement, shares his insights on ‘Asian protein dreams: Averting an ethical and ecological nightmare’
  • Edward Tse, Founder & CEO, Gao Feng Advisory tackles next opportunities in China’s innovation
  • Gideon Rachman, Chief Foreign Affairs Commentator, Financial Times, stays on trend with a discussion on what Trump’s America means for the world
  • Frank Luntz, crisis communications expert and political analyst is back to tell us his opinion on the US mid-terms and the future of America
