We are delighted to have one of the world’s most respected and significant leaders in central banking, Lord Mervyn King (Lord King of Lothbury, KG, GBE, FBA), join us at the 24th annual CLSA Investors’ Forum.

Speaking from three decades of experience navigating the United Kingdom through one of the most perilous periods in economic history, and more recently leading the international central-banking community, King engages in a lively discussion on monetary policy and the way forward for the global economy.

Having recently served for 10 years as the Governor of the Bank of England, chairman of its monetary policy committee and as the chairman of the group of major central banks at the BIS (formerly the G-10 Governors), King was front and centre as the bank dealt with the 2008 financial crisis, leading Britain through an extraordinary period of its economic history that began with inflation targeting and seeking monetary independence to enacting far-reaching reform, prudent regulation and more active financial oversight.

In July 2013, he was appointed a life peer in the British House of Lords by Queen Elizabeth II for contributions of significant public service and in 2014, appointed a Knight of the Garter.

King is currently a professor of Economics and Law at New York University and School Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. As a distinguished figure who has shaped public discourse over the past 30 years, he offers a unique depth to the economic challenges that face the new world economy. Tackling fundamental economic questions, he provides an unprecedented vision for modern capitalism in his book The End of Alchemy: Money, Banking and the Future of the Global Economy.
