Feng Shui Index 2017

First leg – A flat start
Off our back, Monkey, it’s time to let the Fire Rooster crow!

While we’ve flattened out the index, expect volatility but poultry returns for 1Q17.

Water is strong at the outset, favouring Transport and Gaming.

Second leg - A trip to the Peak
The second quarter sees our Earth Rooster seeking the stars.

Midyear sees a downturn after a strong flutter.

Water feeds Wood, which feeds Fire and the riches are yours!

This quarter favours first Retail and Healthcare, then Tech and Utilities.

Third leg - Turbulent times
The nurturing cycle continues in 3Q17 as the baton passes to Earth.

A Rooster for his time? Dude! Roosters are fast and picky. Investors will need to be too!

Earth-related industries flourish after the summer peak. Property, Renewables, Resources and China plays all show potential.

Fourth leg - Tapering
The year ends higher than the start, but gradually tapers with the Yin elements.

Water comes full cycle and puts the Fire out – Transport and Gaming are back in favour.

A closer look

A closer look

February

Wood Tiger
We welcome the Rooster, who spends the month running around like a chicken with its head cut off. All that work for poultry returns!

March

Wood Rabbit
More feather duster than Rooster this month. Not as frantic as last month, but still, the country Rooster does not crow in the town.

April

Earth Dragon
When the Rooster crows, it is not just for the farmer, not this month. Time to put all your eggs in one basket, may there be a chicken in every pot.

May

Fire Snake
Cluck, cluck, cluck. No cock and bull story this month. The more excited a Rooster is, the higher his voice. Cock the hoop and drink it down.

June

Fire Horse
This is the month to cock up your beaver, put your capon and fly high. If there’s a month you’re going to pullet off, it’s this one.

July

Earth Sheep
Money and all good things profitable are as rare as hens’ teeth this month. It’s fowl and not grouse if we’re pigeon-holing birds now.

August

Metal Monkey
No need to duck or quail, or chicken out, this month. The game’s afoot and you can perch up high. You’ll get your chicken by hatching your egg.

September

Metal Rooster
Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow, you have the egg. Anything else this month is just chicken feed, and the roost is aslant.

October

Earth Dog
Sometimes there’s a barnyard fowl, well, he’s the barnyard fowl for his time and place. If you’re not feeling hen-picked, then it’s time to crow.

November

Water Pig
The Roosters are crowing but not because it is daylight - chicken, that sound is the gun cocking. A good time to duck out and take cover.

December

Water Rat
The fox is in the henhouse. Time to chicken out before you cock it up. Put on your Chicken Little mask for the sky is falling!

January

Earth Ox
It doesn’t matter how much you shake your tail feathers, they’re still behind you. The year ends, but cock up your hat and leave in clover.
