The market view:
Future promise

The ACGA's results this year suggest that small differences in overall scores are hiding big variations in stakeholder category performance. While overall the scores for different markets are on an upward trend, the political landscape is undermining governance in parts of Southeast Asia.

Once again, the main excitement in this year's CG Watch is not at the front or back of the pack, but in the middle. Taiwan has made a concerted effort over the past two years to enhance its governance ecosystem and moves from fifth to fourth, edging ever closer to Hong Kong and Singapore. Japan has rebounded with a sustained effort across several of the stakeholder categories in our survey and rises from equal seventh to equal fifth.
