Sustainability is close to our hearts at CLSA. Over the years CLSA volunteers have been working closely with different partners on several programmes aimed at building a more sustainable future for our community. This month, CLSA Hong Kong staff participated in a farming day at the Senior Buddy Charity Farm, a social enterprise that transforms under-utilised spaces in the city into urban organic farms.
In contrast to the familiar office work environment, our CLSA volunteers went out doors and embraced the fresh air and manual labour need to revitalise and propagate Senior Buddy Charity Farm. The organic farm grows a range of nutritious produce which is given to elderly people in Hong Kong for them to enjoy.
This programme is closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) The hands on farming experience provided by CLSA to Hong Kong employee’s brings an opportunity to spend time reconnecting with nature, and better understand how a sustainable lifestyle can be achieved while learning more about our food footprint.
