CLSA Hong Kong plants trees to educate children about the environment.

To commemorate Earth Day in Hong Kong, CLSA staff, families and friends took part in a community tree-planting and hiking day on Lantau Island, co-organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and the Friends of the Country Parks promoting the message: “Save Trees, Conserve Nature”.

After a 100-minute hike to the top of the mountain, we planted 120 seedlings, namely Hong Kong Gordonia, Hong Kong Hawthorn and Chinese Euryan. Some of the kids hadn’t planted anything before and are now all looking forward to returning to Lantau in a few months to see how much our trees have grown!
