Hong Kong, China – 3 August 2026: Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) officially launched 5-Year China Government Bond (CGB) Futures. As one of the first liquidity providers, CITIC Securities International actively engaged in bilateral quoting and completed multiple trades with a diverse range of offshore investors, including banks and asset managers on the first trading day, providing ongoing liquidity to the market.
The launch of the only China Government Bond Futures in the offshore market marks a further enhancement of Hong Kong’s fixed income and currency ecosystem. Complementing Bond Connect and working in synergy with Swap Connect, CGB Futures broadens the range of risk management tools available to international investors and supports more diversified asset allocation strategies in China’s bond market.
CITIC Securities International has strengthened its market influence through CITIC Securities’ global network and integrated platform. In March 2026, it received HKEX’s “Top Swap Connect Client” Award. Three months later, it was appointed as a liquidity provider for HKEX’s USD/CNH Futures and became the first securities firm to conduct USD/CNH cross-currency swap clearing through OTC Clear, HKEX’s clearing subsidiary. By adding CGB Futures to its product offering, CITIC Securities International further expands its integrated capabilities across cash bonds, futures, swaps and repurchase agreements, enriching Hong Kong’s offshore Renminbi (RMB) market ecosystem.
