CLSA’s environmental policy provides a charter to ensure that our practices as an organisation comply with regional environmental regulations, that we provide services in a sustainable manner and promote the reduction of energy and material consumption among employees, clients and vendors. We have self-imposed targets that we monitor annually.
CLSA’s Hong Kong office was awarded the regional ISO14001:2004 certification in May 2007 and in September 2007 additional locations were certified: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen; Mumbai, Jakarta, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Singapore, Taipei, Bangkok and London.
In order to sustain the certification, CLSA has consistently introduced measures* to reduce the company’s own carbon footprint, to reuse materials, recycle items and reduce consumption. We audit our vendors to understand their impact on the environment, with environmental management representatives in each of our offices ensuring the Environmental Management System we have implemented is adhered to.
*We recycle newspapers, have water filters rather than use plastic water dispensers and have introduced metal cutlery, china crockery and glassware to minimise plastic waste.
